In short

What SOC 2 is

SOC 2 is an attestation report, based on the AICPA Trust Services Criteria, that describes how an organisation manages customer data across security, availability, processing integrity, confidentiality and privacy. Customers and partners ask for it often, especially in the United States, before trusting you with their data.

  • The trust standard for the US market
  • Type I (a point in time) and Type II (a period)
  • Based on the AICPA Trust Services Criteria
  • Unlocks enterprise contracts and due diligence

Who needs it

Who SOC 2 is for

01

B2B SaaS companies selling in the US

In the United States, SOC 2 is often an enterprise customer's first requirement: without it, the deal doesn't start.

02

Vendors handling customer data

If you host or process data on behalf of others, SOC 2 shows you do it securely and under control.

03

Companies facing due diligence requests

Investors and customers ask for the report during reviews: having it ready speeds up deals and funding rounds.

FAQ

SOC 2 questions

Type I assesses the design of controls at a specific point in time; Type II also assesses their operating effectiveness over a period (usually 3 to 12 months). Customers, especially enterprise ones, almost always ask for Type II.
SOC 2 is more in demand in the US market, ISO 27001 internationally. The controls overlap a lot: if you're targeting both markets, it pays to tackle them together.
The report is issued by an independent CPA. We get you ready, automate the evidence and coordinate the audit until the report is issued.
Readiness takes a few weeks; Type II adds the observation period. After an assessment we give you a realistic timeline for your case.
